I’m not Patriotic
I’m not Patriotic
I just gave my seat and a smile
to that grandma,
who stood in the bus.
Oh wait, also I still keep smiling,
and no flag is fluttering
over the top left square
of the biggest Book I Face.
The former smile anyway
was returned with huge interest.
I have failed in my duty
to uphold the loyalty!
I’m not Patriotic
I only helped the man,
who wore dark glasses
and held a long stick,
to cross the road.
But my bad, I didn’t
help to spread
the message of devotion
to my nation
over App, I forget Whats it.
Isn’t it a sin
Treachery akin!
I’m not Patriotic
I just picked up the poster,
torn and tattered
lying on the avenue
and dropped it into
the big green bin.
But to one’s dismay,
I forgot to display
importance of the day,
over the Line
that dictates my Time.
And so, I should whine!
I’m not Patriotic
I only turned off
the big white switch
when I had to leave
my beautiful room.
Oh but, have I
not forgotten to
restate the Chirps?
Hasn’t it proven
my unfaithfulness?
For what all I have done
holds scant meaning.
And what I haven’t done
are the blocks that build!
I have immense respect to the thoughts and actions of others. I even adore and follow many. What I have expressed here are my opinions on certain actions that i’ve seen happen.
What I intended in some of the lines above…
over the top left square
of the biggest Book I Face.
..Changing my profile picture in Facebook
over App, I forget Whats it
..Forwarding ‘Patriotic’ messages (read forward messages) over WhatsApp
Over the Line
that dictates my Time
..Facebook timeline
restate the Chirps?
..Retweet ‘Patriotic’ Tweets
Cheers
God Bless
Kaushik, great lines. 🙂 People flaunt their patriotism only on days like Independence or Republic day. For the rest of the 363 days, no body gives a heck.
You have got the real meaning of patriotism.

Thank you 🙂 As you said patriotism is not about flaunting on few days. Doing our duties well is patriotic enough.
