Deepavali

Deepavali (Deepa-Avali..’row of lamps’ as in Sanskrit, Deepa-Oli..’brightness of lamps’ as in Tamil) is a well known festival or rather a celebration. Okay, there are numerous pages with the significance, happiness, etc etc associated with this awesome festival, flooded all over the internet. So let me not overfeed you with them. A long time since i’ve posted too, and here’s a quick doodle that I designed for this auspicious day.

Should be posting soon. A dozen posts yet in drafts. Happy Deepavali and celebrate every moment of life 🙂

And she said…

A sketch for the poem or a poem for the sketch?

And she said, “Awesome”
Seeing the portrait, conceived from her charm.
But the admiration, hidden!

And she said, “Wonderful”
Reading the poem, written on her allure.
But the adoration, concealed!

And she said, “Fantastic”
Liking the status, defining her elegance.
But the motive, latent!

And she said, “Beautiful”
Holding the flowers, which echoed her beauty.
But the thoughts, suppressed!

And she said, “Aww”
Blushing at her picture, reflecting her appeal.
But the fondness, buried deep in heart!

And there would come a sunrise, or a sunset
When the thoughts could merge.
And the love, never submerge!

The italicized could be deciphered as…HIS feelings that he hides, while he admires her expressions, or HER feelings that she hides, while she expresses for him to admire!

Amrapali

Among the many women present in the rich epics of India, Amrapali is one of my many favourites. I had always admired the way she overcame the many hurdles that life had for her and finally became a part of the Buddhist order. I learnt about her mostly from some Jataka stories, online sources and a series depicting her life, long ago. And here’s my sketch dedicated to Amrapali…
